I am looking to buy a shotgun to go hunting for the first time this fall/winter. I would like something that I could use for just about any of the game that is hunted here in Iowa (deer, pheasant, duck, turkey). I would also like to be able to use it to go skeet shooting. Not looking to spend too much money. I am a 25 yo male (if that makes a difference).
Not looking for a youth gun…just something good for someone new to hunting

I think i would prefer a 12 gauge, but I am not set on it. I plan on using it to hunt pheasant. Also, I will plan on trap shootin as a hobby. I may even compete. Anyone think they can point me the right direction? Big 5 is having a sale on a mossberg 12 ga 590 for 369.99… are mossberg shotguns quality? They also have a remi 12 ga 7 shot for the same price. Either of these good deals? Thanks for the help!!!!

I plan to use the gun for bird hunting(grouse, pheasant), turkey and I plan to get an additional slug barrel for deer. I want semi-auto. I don’t know whether to spend the extra money to get a Benelli, or just stick with the 1187. Im more about quality of the weapon, but obviously I would like to save some money. Resale isn’t really a concern, since I want this weapon for as long as possible. Will the more expensive Benelli really be worth the money?

I’ve been shooting for quite some time now, as much of my family grew up around guns. I’m 16, but I’ve bought ammo before at gun shows and such, although that was for my nagant. My brother recently bought me a 20 gauge, but I currently only have pheasant shot for it.
In short, can I go to Wal-Mart and buy slugs, although I’m not 18?
Thanks guys.
I live in Florida.

My husband passed away. He used to hunt pheasant. His buddy took his old shotgun a few years ago. I am getting ready to move and found several brand new boxes of unused shotgun shells. Can I sell them? I could use the money but don’t want to do anything illegal. What can I do with them. Thanks.

I am looking for something to do some recreational skeet shooting, but that also has the ability to do some duck and maybe some quail and pheasant hunting. I was looking at the Remington 870 Express. Would that be a good choice?

Starting up pheasant hunting and need to know whats the best type of shotgun to use. Is it practical enough to use a singleshot shotgun considering it’s less than a hundrad dollars? And I want to get a 12 gauge. I also hear people talking about adjusting the choke, what do they mean by that? Thanks.

Ive been duck hunting for 5 years (since i was
and am considering buying my first shotgun. I will be using it for duck, turkey, pheasant, dove, and skeet. Im debating between a beneli nova remington 887 and a stevens 311. I will be hunting in sacramento valley so weather conditions will be mild. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, also if you know any cheap side by sides i would be great. thanks

I only know a little about shotguns. I want to know what the best shotgun is for deer and turkey hunting and trap shooting, but i also want a shot gun that i can shoot skeet, duck, geese, quail, pheasant, and raccoon. What shot gun would be the best for that, obviously pump action, but what gage? I want to know what gage. and if their is also a good brand.
Also i want a long barrel. Is their any shot gun that can do all of that or at least most of it, and if it cant do it all please tell me what it can do. I know i definitely need it to be able to kill deer and turkey

My wife’s cousin is getting ready to go on his first pheasant hunt over Thanksgiving weekend. What’s the best choice of a shotgun type for him? Single shot, double, pump, etc.?

I will be hunting mostly turkey and deer. Maybe some duck and pheasant. I will be getting a 12 gauge unless you would suggest otherwise. If you have any other suggestions for a gun in the 300-400 dollar price range, please tell me. Thanks

I live in Nj and just aquired my permit to purchase, one for shotgun and one for pistol. My question is I want to hunt for deer, turkey, pheasant, And some small game.My dilema is that I don’t want to own ten different guns. What would be my best all around choice? I can live with a slug gun and maybe one other gun.I have spoke to many dealers and friends alike and they kinda confuse me with al this interchangeable barrels and all that good stuff.I would love to just write down the name too two guns and go and buy them and start my practice.Any information will be put to good use.I think I just needed to get a broader opinion about this dilema thank you to all who respond…..

I am wanting to get into bird hunting (or wing shooting as it is called) I have a Remington .20 gauge, but I didn’t know if this was appropriate for pheasant or quail hunting. I was also not sure whether I needed a choke, and if so, what size.

I just purchased a Remington 870 Express. I won’t use it very much, so I only want to keep a single type of ammunition. I’ll mainly have the gun for home defense, but maybe occasionally use it for pheasant hunting or shooting clays. What is the most economical size/type of shot for 2 3/4" shells, which would be a fair compromise for all of my purposes?
Oh…it’s a 12 gauge in case you wondered.
