Can a paintball shotgun be used as a sniper rifle?

This sounds like a dumb question, I know, but I would like to get a certain realistic feel from the gun. I just want to know if a paintball shotgun shoots the same way as a regular marker (range, accuracy ya know, the works). Also can you change the barrel to make it longer and more accurate? And the best brand?
