This is an environmental and business project. Is the plastic on a shotgun shell recyclable? How would you remove the plastic? Melting and prying might work. I just dont know how to do it.
And to those like Mr.357, a business and environmental project doesn’t encircle the reloading of shells.

Is it possible to create a blank shotgun shell by removing the pellets from the cartridge (shell) and only leaving the empty cartridge with the gunpowder?

I know you can’t (or it’s very unlikely to be able to) match the shotgun shell to the shotgun. I want to know if it’s possible to take the pelltets and wading from the victim and match that to a shotgun casing. Has this even been done before?

I’ve just taken apart a very old shotgun shell. The powder it contains it black, but it has tiny flat circular granules. Is this black powder?

How does the primer go off? Can you light the end of a shotgun shell and it would go off?

I was looking at a box of my shotgun shell and I noticed it said "Shot 7". I believe that refers to the size of the projectiles inside but relatively speaking, is 7 big or small or somewhere in the middle? And how far does the shot size scale go in either direction?

These shotgun shells were developed before shell’s with the primmer in the center of the base of the cartridge. I found these shells for sale at a flea market and I wanted to find out the name of shotgun shell style, and any background info I can get. Also any value because I want to give them to my big brother as a gift.

Today I found an old spent shotgun shell, and decided to find out some stuff about it. The brass has "Western no. 12 Super X" printed on it, and after looking up the Super Xs online I found out they’re an old model of shotgun shell that are sold as collector’s items. The strange thing is that the original Super X’s all have cardboard tubes, and the one I have is plastic. Anyone know what it might be?

Im trying to make a replica of a Benelli M4 super 90, and want to make a couple of shotgun shell replicas as well. I just need to know the diameter and the length of the shell.

1) What is the most powerful type of shotgun shell?
2) For those of you who use shotguns for home defense, what kind of ammo do you use for it?

When you have those shotguns that use these things http://www.amazon.com/UTG-Multi-Shot-Shotgun-Shell-Cartridges/dp/B001BR2YG4/ref=pd_bxgy_sg_img_b
Are they a hassle to load?
Thanks

Wouldn’t it be an important piece of information in a shooting death, for the police and the ME to know the size of the load used to kill the victim with a 12 ga shotgun during the investigation to make a ruling on the manner of death? Wouldn’t it matter if it was birdshot or buckshot? I read a story where the police investigators and the ME never even removed the shell casing that inflicted the fatal shot from the shot gun. The size of the load in a shotgun shell is on the side of the casing. How do they determine anything with out even knowing the size of the shot used? Do they just guess? No autopsy or ballistics test were performed not even a toxicology was done. And there were two shots fired and they left the first shell casing lying on the ground isn’t that also evidence? It was a very curious story to me I just wanted to know what the proceedure would be in a case like that, when no witnesses were present. Shouldn’t it be fully investigated?

I saw a few photos and a video of The Beatles in studio recording "For You Blue" By George Harrison. Anyway, John Lennon was playing an electric lap slide guitar and was using what looked like a shotgun shell as his slide. I’m familar with what slides should look like (I play them and have a few of my own) So yeah I’m pretty sure it was a shotgun shell, so give me your thoughts.

I was thinking about buying this 12 gauge Mossberg 500 tactical shotgun:
http://www.mossberg.com/images/Mossberg_Guns/930/New/54125.jpg
What is the effective range of a shotgun shell (00 buck, slug, etc…?)
Is a shotgun blast deadlier than a rifle blast?
