Shotgun Shells…. Too old?

April 29th, 2011 by eranio

I also have some shotgun shells purchased by my grandfather some 15 to
20 years ago (back when a box of buckshot ran .79 ) and was wondering
whether or not they were safe to use. I have newer ammo I use but I
also would like to know, because he did purchase a sizeable amount of said
ammo and it would save me a few dollars. Remington 12g Buckshot and
Turkey shots.

Also, does anyone know the value of a Remington 1100 12g shotgun from 1968 (VG condition)

how does a speed feed work on a tactical shotgun?

April 25th, 2011 by eranio

I have been looking into getting a 12 gauge shotgun for home defense. I want to say this was on a mossberg 500 tactcal shotgun i saw. They had it on a 6 shot capacity and a 9 shot capacity. Almost certain it was called a speed feed. In the picture it shows that you can store i beleive it was 4 extra shotgun shells in the handle frame of the shutgun just in front of i guess it would be the stock. Sorry dont know much about shotguns so probably just making these terms up. If anyone understands what i am talking about and can please explain to me how the speed feed works. Is it just a storage area to hold the extra shells? Or is that where it feeds the shells up into the shotgun? I am confused because it says there are 6 and 9 shot capacity. Is that including the extra shells in the speed feed or is it 6 and 9 shot capacity for the stock plus what you have in the speed feed?
use the link.

Its the one in the 2nd row from the top 4 from the left its the mossberg. 590A1

What is the maxium rounds a pump shotgun can hold in Massachusetts for an owner with only an FID card?

March 22nd, 2011 by eranio

I know the statute says no more than 5 but is that for automatic shotguns? I hate the purposely vague wording of Mass gun laws, they are an invitation to trouble.

"A weapon is large capacity if it is a semi-automatic handgun or rifle that is capable of accepting (or readily modifiable to accept) any detachable large capacity feeding device that holds more than ten rounds, OR if it is a shotgun capable of accepting more than five shotgun shells, OR if it is an assault weapon."

Why do over-powder wads take up so much space in shotgun shells?

January 27th, 2011 by eranio

I can’t help but notice that about 30% of the length of many shotgun shells, even magnum type shells consist of a wad. Why can’t this be shortened? It would allow you to shorten the length of the shell which has many benefits. Why don’t they do this?

What can I do with new shotgun shells?

October 11th, 2010 by eranio

My husband passed away. He used to hunt pheasant. His buddy took his old shotgun a few years ago. I am getting ready to move and found several brand new boxes of unused shotgun shells. Can I sell them? I could use the money but don’t want to do anything illegal. What can I do with them. Thanks.

September 7th, 2010 by eranio

These shotgun shells were developed before shell’s with the primmer in the center of the base of the cartridge. I found these shells for sale at a flea market and I wanted to find out the name of shotgun shell style, and any background info I can get. Also any value because I want to give them to my big brother as a gift.

Can you reload two shotgun shells at the same time with the Neostead 2000?

September 5th, 2010 by eranio

I am currently researching the patent drawings of combat shotguns, such as the Mossberg 590 and the Benelli m3. I came across the Neostead 2000, and I was slightly confused by the odd design it had. Could someone please explain to me whether or not you load two shotgun shells at the same time with this weapon? It has two feeding tubes, but someone told me you could only load the gun with one tube, why?

Can I replace the barrel on a flaregun to shoot shotgun shells?

August 28th, 2010 by eranio

I think it would be a fun experiment to see if I could saw off the plastic barrel of a flare gun and replace it with a steel pipe of comparable size and shoot shotgun shells with it. Possible? No hippy answers please, just informed answers with reasons thank you very much.
