I want to load up some blank shotgun shells to use for dog training. How do I go about doing this? What do I put in place of the shot?

What would be the best mixture for solid rocket fuel? Something simple to make?

April 21st, 2010 by eranio

I am just testing out homemade rocket designs and have just been using powder from shotgun shells because I reload them. It seems to just pop and only go about ten feet. I think it burns too quickly. Something that burns slower?

Shotgun Mossberg 590?

March 14th, 2010 by eranio

How much should a Mossberg 590 cost… as long as I don’t mind the lack of a bayonet, would it be less expensive just to get an old hunting shotgun and change the stock, add a magazine extension and paint it?

This would primarily be a home defense shotgun.

What is reasonable to pay for a Mossberg 590 and a Mossberg 500…. both used and new prices for both if possible please.

One more qucik question about shotgun shells… could you reload a shell with pretty much random stuff if you lacked any shot? Similar to how they load cannons in movies with silverware and stuff when they run out of cannon balls. Can that be done with a shotgun?

Any relavent informaiton would be appreciated, thanks.

i have a question about shotguns?

February 9th, 2010 by eranio

Would a shotgun with bird hunting shells(could someone tell me exactly the name of them?) kill a person or would it just really mess them up? When it shoots it’s like all over the place right? And are these type of shotgun shells commonly used for household defense?
Kush, your comment made me laugh the hardest I have in a while. The drug thing was pretty hilarious.

What is the equation used to determine the force exerted on an object?

January 8th, 2010 by eranio

I am doing a school project on shotgun shells. I am attempting to determine the amount of force, possibly in pounds, exerted on an object given the individual pellet’s weight and speed. Also, once I figure out what force one has, how does that apply to multiple pellets? For instance a single 1-ounce pellet going 1500 feet per second hits with so much impact, how would I figure the force of 8 pellets? Do you multiply the origional answer by the number of pellets? Any help finding the equation or web links related to this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I would need the answer to be in foot pounds rather than newtons.

Thampy- You are on to something but that equation seems to be for the initial force to get the bullet moving, I need the force it exerts on an object when it strikes it.

I have actually found the answer since I asked it, I want to see who can figure it out. The equation I am looking for involves taking the weight of a bullet in grains and it’s speed in feet per second upon impact, using these two variables you can determine the impact in foot pounds on the target.
