Despite owning several guns, a shotgun has never been among my arsenal. However, I plan to correct that shortly. The shotgun I purchase will have its primary role as a home defense gun, but I would like the option of changing barrels for hunting or skeet/trap shooting. I would also like some guidance in the 12 gauge versus 20 gauge debate – I would like if my wife and kids could wield this gun as well, so I’m sort of leaning toward 20 gauge, but I understand that 12 gauge is not only more powerful, but there is a greater variety of loads in that caliber.

I usually mess around with my buds and shoot frisbees with my 12 ga pump sometimes I have to slam fire 2 rounds really quick to hit the target. I figured tough since I have 3 single shots shotguns [12 ga, 16 ga, and .410] I might go to the skeet/trap range and try my luck so what would be the better shotgun to use the 12 has a cylinder choke, the 16 gauge an IC and the .410 has either a full or modified. I was also thinking of buying a pigeon thrower, the Wal-mart has two different machines one for 19.99 and another for 50 something then the have a hand thrower I was thinking of buying one those so all my buds can shoot with out everybody for the use of a range.

your thoughts?

i’m looking for a new semi-auto shotgun (on a budget) and am pondering the H&R Excell Auto 5 or the Weatherby SA08. either one in 12 or 20 gauge. so what are your opinions on either gun?

skeet/trap use shooting light loads

So after months of researching AR’s and narrowing down options and getting questions answered from you folks, I have run into a problem.
I have finally sold my Gibson Guitar and now have the K for the AR I wanted, which was an LWRC M6A2 5.56mm.
But I have now seen a gun that looks absolutely fun.
It is the Benelli M4 Shotgun.
The thing looks absolutely fantastic and is a Semi Auto.
I would be using this mainly for range and fun shooting.
I don’t hunt and with kids in the house, this thing would be stored so securely, that it would be useless for home defense since it would take me forever to get it out.
A buddy who has a few guns tells me to get the AR since it would be much funner. (Long and Short range capabilities)
He says I would get bored of the shotgun since it is mainly short distance blasting and since it is a short barrel it would not be good for skeet, trap etc…
Any Thoughts?
