Best tactical shotgun. Why? and Prices please?

April 21st, 2010 by eranio

I am looking at getting a tactical shotgun for home defense. Please only tactical ones. I am not interested in getting a regular sized one, I dont hunt and dont really see myself doing any skeet shooting anytime soon. Also i know it would be easier to re-sell a regular shotgun but i dont see myself selling this. I would prefer one with a normal stock not the pistol grip. If you could please tell my why you reccomend the gun you do and what price range i would be looking at.

Which mossberg shotgun should i get?

April 6th, 2010 by eranio

I’m doing turkey and dear hunting. I also might do skeet. I found both these, but I just put in a link to a gun, I’m sure the prices could be cheaper somewhere else, If you know a place please tell me.

I have a Mossberg Maverick 88 12 gauge 28 inch ribbed barrel shotgun. Is it safe to shoot any type of lead?

April 5th, 2010 by eranio

buckshot out of it? The barrel states that it can can take up to 3 in shells. I have a bunch of super mag 00 buckshot and dont know if that is too much of a heavy load for the barrel. It still has the factory choke tube in it and im not sure what kind it is (modified, improved skeet). HELP!!

Best shotgun i can buy?

February 27th, 2010 by eranio

Ive been duck hunting for 5 years (since i was 8) and am considering buying my first shotgun. I will be using it for duck, turkey, pheasant, dove, and skeet. Im debating between a beneli nova remington 887 and a stevens 311. I will be hunting in sacramento valley so weather conditions will be mild. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, also if you know any cheap side by sides i would be great. thanks

What is the best shotgun?

February 24th, 2010 by eranio

I only know a little about shotguns. I want to know what the best shotgun is for deer and turkey hunting and trap shooting, but i also want a shot gun that i can shoot skeet, duck, geese, quail, pheasant, and raccoon. What shot gun would be the best for that, obviously pump action, but what gage? I want to know what gage. and if their is also a good brand.

Also i want a long barrel. Is their any shot gun that can do all of that or at least most of it, and if it cant do it all please tell me what it can do. I know i definitely need it to be able to kill deer and turkey

20 gauge shotgun, either Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 for skeet and trap

February 19th, 2010 by eranio

I want to shoot skeet and/or trap. I need a 20 gauge shotgun because I have a back injury and when I tried it with a 12 gauge it caused some pain.
Looking at the Mossberg website, they only mention a 12 gauge skeet choke. Nothing for 20 gauge. What choke would be the closest substitute; improved cylinder, modified or full? Are the chokes interchangeable between these two? I’d save with the Maverick. Seems the Maverick holds 5 1 and the Mossberg holds only 4 1. Are there any other major difference for a newbie between the two? Is there another choke from another maker more suitable? Is there any other sub 0 20 gauge pump shot guns you’d recommend over these two? Maybe NEF Pardner pump? Thanks.

What is the difference in recoil between the Beretta Xtrema2 and the Teknys Gold and other AL391 Shotguns?

February 7th, 2010 by eranio

I am looking at purchasing a new semi-auto shotgun for skeet and dove. I am extremely interested in the Xtrema2 because of its non-existant recoil and rapid rate of fire. My question is…what is the difference between that shotgun and the other AL391′s such as the Teknys Gold? Will I still get the same quality recoil reduction and rate of fire? Thanks!

What is the purpose of having a double barreled shotgun?

January 19th, 2010 by eranio

Several years ago, on impulse I got a 12 gauge SxS with a 20" barrel. I have other shotguns so it’s still never been fired. I hate to admit it but, what would you use one for? For home defense I have a Benelli, for skeet I thought you’d need a 24"+ barrel.

Any suggestions?

Can I use Remington 870 Express Super Magnum Turkey Camo shotgun for skeet?

January 3rd, 2010 by eranio

What kind of choke tube does this gun come with? Can I use this shotgun for shooting clay birds and/or skeet without buying extra choke tubes? (I will use this gun to hunt turkey and other birds, but before going out to hunt, I want to practice on moving targets)

Choke tube to use on Mossberg shotguns for self-defense?

November 17th, 2009 by eranio

Assume some of the popular Mossberg shotguns like all-purpose 500 or 535 (they use Accu-Choke tubes), or 835 (uses Accu-Mag tubes). I provide the link to Mossberg list below.

My question is which tube to install for self-defense. You could consider two cases: one inside home, and one outside. I would assume the best would be the most open tube, Mossberg lists "skeet" as the most open. I assume you cannot use all-purpose shotguns designed for choke tubes without a choke tube installed. How come Mossberg does not have a straight cylinder tube with no constriction? Skeet is the most open tube.

http://mossberg.com/products/access.asp?type=chokes&section=access

Another factor to consider is buckshot size or birdshot size. Assume 12ga. I plan to have 1-2 birdshot shells in the front, followed by buckshots with increasing pellet sizes up to the max 5 shells in the magazine.

Where can I find the best deal on a new shotgun for skeet and sporting clays?

November 14th, 2009 by eranio

I appreciate all help! But please refrain from making smart remarks as answers. If you don’t like guns, that is fine. I don’t need to know your opinion.

I am interested in purchasing a new or nearly new shotgun for skeet and sporting clays. I have borrowed both an o/u and semi-autos and I enjoy shooting both. At this point I am considering a Beretta 3901 or 391 or possibly an inexpensive o/u. I would like to keep the price in the 0 to 0 range. Suggestions on any online options or brick and mortar in Ohio or Indiana would be most appreciated. In this area we have Dick’s, Gander Mountain and Bass Pro as well as several locally own shops. I have checked them all out but still haven’t found the selection or pricing that I am looking for.

I am leaning toward a new gun since I do not think I could identify damage or wear on a used weapon.
