I am thinking about getting 16 Ga remington 870 shotgun and i was wondering if i can use a slug, a shot, or both. Im new to the hunting world so i would really appreciate the help. Thank You for your help.
This is the shotgun with an extended magazine well and other new
features to utilize AK action in slug or shot throws. It makes even
the new Mossberg Tactical retail look lame.
I have a live 12ga 2.75” – 70MM Remington shotgun slug that I want to take take apart.
I know you set them off by hitting the back with the hammer, but how sensitive is it? I’ve always been afraid to drop ammunition on the ground for fear of it going off. Just how sensitive is it?
Its my first year hunting whitetail, i will be using a 12 gauge, 2 and 3/4" slug. I will be hunting a winchester model 1300 or a some savage semi auto. I just picked up federal truball, winchester super-X , remington slugger and winchester supreme platinum tip slugs. Whats the effect range? There both smooth bored shotguns. and open sights.
They all say 1 oz execpt the winchester supreme. It says 400 grains. How big is the 1 oz. whats that mean? im good with rifles but i dont know anything about slugs
The barrel say’s 24 inch "slugster" so is this only for slug use? Im a pistol/rifle expert but know nothing about shotguns. Thank you
It says slugster but when i looked in the barrel with a mag light it looks smooth???
I called mossy today and the said this barrel can shoot any 12 ga 2 3/4-3 in shot shell. Thanks for your answers
What exactly is the purpose of using a slug? Wouldn’t it be better to just use a rifle with a bullet? I thought the whole purpose of shotguns was their spread. Is it just to make shotguns multi-functional?
I bought this gun for deer hunting, but the question is can this gun shoot slugs without anything special needed. And if so what kind (brand) slug. And can a buckshot do the trick. Thank You
I have been looking at mossberg 835 ultra-mag tactical turkey shotgun, and i don’t want to just only shoot turkey loads out of it, i would like to be able to hunt deer, partridge, and or waterfowl, but i don’t know if i can shoot any other type of ammo out of it, i know you cant shoot a slug threw it while the choke is in it but im not sure if you can shoot another type of ammo out of it.
Alright, so I just bought a mosberg 500 tactical persuader for 400 plus tax etc from a sporting store. I’ve never had a shotgun before, and I’m a total noob when it comes to shotguns. I have a few questions, first can someone simplify the ammunition? What is buck shot? Bird shot? etc etc. I know what a slug is, a solid projectile, but I don’t understand the difference between all the other ones.
Here is the ammunition I got, anyone know anything about this ammunition? I just grabbed a random one that said 12 guage on it, since I new my shotgun was 12 guage.
Ammunition.

This is the right ammunition right?
I just got the gun for shooting at the range for fun. I’m not even sure how to chamber these rounds yet. Also, does anyone know where to get blank ammo? Dummy ammo, that u can just use to load and unload for demonstration purposes?
I want to buy a shotgun and I want to get on that is reasonably priced but also good quality. What brand would be suitable? What type of ammo would be the best?Slug?Buckshot? What is the difference and what are those used for?
i was going to use my 410 or 12 gauge shotgun for deer hunting next year. is it possible to use an unrifled barrel,if so what kind of slug and should i take the choke off or should i use a choke at all?
Iowa and parts of Southern Wisconsin mandate that deer hunters use shotguns. Now, my stupid question is this: I’ve seen Hornady 20 gauge sabot slugs advertised as having 1800 fps of snot to them. Now, my 170 grain .30-30 has about 2100. If the whole reason for using shotguns is because of how far a projectile may go, isn’t using this super-shotgun ammo kind of defeating the purpose?! I suppose a shotgun slug will not carry 2 miles, but from what it said on that box, no drop out to 150 yards.
Secondly, if you’re allowed to hunt with a .357 pistol for deer, why can’t you hunt with a .410 slug?
I know rules are rules, but some of them seem kind of stupid. But, it does seem that technology has bypassed some of these rules. (Super sabots)
