I am looking for a really good shotgun for hunting deer (shooting slugs). I know I want a brand new one and a new model as well. I will spend up to about 00 but prefer to spend about 0-800. I also want something that I can also use for turkey hunting (something that comes with different barrels or chokes). I was looking online (winchester, mossberg & Remiington) but there are so many different models on the websites I dont know which is the right one? Any help would be appreciated. Please include specific model #’s or links so I can find it.
for everyone that says mossberg 500 how about this one – do you think it is better than the 500??

Hey I’m tryin to find a good shotgun for under 600 bucks (no super slugs) I was thinkin of a mossberg 500, any other good ideas?

Is there something wrong with the chamber that holds the shells? I tried using 2 3/4 inch slugs and only getting 3 loaded. Please direct me.

Slugs werent much cheaper than bucksot if at all at the store I went to.

BQ- How oftem should I clean my shotgun? I have a mossy 500

I bought this gun for deer hunting, but the question is can this gun shoot slugs without anything special needed. And if so what kind (brand) slug. And can a buckshot do the trick. Thank You

I’m looking for the best shotgun ammo I can get for a 12G shotgun. I want the most destructive/stopping force. I don’t really care if it goes though the walls or not I’m willing to take that chance. Right now I have normal 5 rounds of ammo in my chamber and 5 rounds of 3" 76MM Magnum turkey shot rounds which is my defensive rounds..they seem to be good but I want more power..so what are my options? Would Magnum slugs be better?

And please no anti gun comments..someone breaks into my house/car I’m not going to feel sorry for him and bake him a cake.
The 5 Magnum rounds are in the stock speed feed. just to clear up any confusion..basically so the shotgun keeps 10 rounds on it at all times.

I have a benelli supernova tactical shotgun which I have taken to the range and fired maybe 30 rounds through or so (buckshot and slugs). I purchased a remington universal cleaning kit, I’m just curious what are the steps to clean my gun?

Of course I know how to take off the barrel and such.

I just don’t know the order of things to do, when do I use the bore cleaning solvent, the patches, the bronze brush, etc.?
Do I need to worry about scratching anything? I would assume steel is harder than bronze… but I want to make sure.
Does the order even really matter? Or should I just use the brush until the big chunks of wad and lead oare gone and then use the patch with solvent to finish the job?

i have a new 1187 and ive cleaned it a lot.i shoot shot and slugs. the slugs eject fine but the shot cartrige doesnt eject.i am in a clay trap shooting competiotion starting this summer so i need help soon. it is mostly 2 3/4 in for the shot and slugs.please help.

p.s. i have used federal ammo so far and the gun is new.

They have great stopping power. Slugs have more power than a 5.56mm round and the average engagement for U.S. personel today is 75 yards or less. Slugs have an effective range up to 125 yards and sometimes more. Even buckshot would have effective firepower for putting down lead down range. The Usas 12 Full Auto Shotgun has a 50 round drum that can fire birdshot, buckshot, slugs, and even 40mm rounds with effective range up to 200 yards! Why wouldn’t the U.S. use shotguns for combat instead of door breaching?

I have a Famous Maker Model HT2510T Tactical Scope which I believe is for RIfle. I would like to use it for shooting slugs from a rifled barrel shotgun. Is this a problem?

I shoot a Benelli Nova and i was wondering what slugs people found shot the tightest groups, i’ve already found what shoots straight in my Nova, but i just got to wondering what brands and loads people had found the most accurate in their Novas. BTW i shoot a 24 inch smoothbore barrel with an improved cylinder choke.

No offense, but all i really care about is what Nova owners have to say. Thanks!

I went to a local gun shop today and they had a used Remington 870 for 9. Is that a good buy? What are some things I can look at when buying a used shotgun?

Second thing I was wondering is what does it mean to have a modified choke and what does it mean to have the barrel riffled?
Ok, maybe I should be a little more specific so I don’t come off as as completely ignorant. I have shot guns all my life and have taken the hunter’s ed class. I know what a riffled barrel is. More specifically I guess I should have asked what the purpose of a riffled barrel in a shotgun was? Is it specifically for slugs or something? I don’t have too much experience with shotguns. Not as much as with my handguns and rifles. I have never owned a shotgun. I have been interested in getting one for awhile.

I am going to be hunting white tail deer this season, with a shotgun for the first time. My barrel is a smooth bore barrel, so I am wondering what kind of choke I should use, if I want to use, slugs, buckshot or sabot rounds. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.
The current choke in my barrel is a Remington Mod Choke.

I am considering buying a Mossberg 12 ga. combo shotgun. It would be my first hunting shotgun, they seem to be of reasonable quality and a good value. My question is they have a model 500 combo gun and a model 535ATS combo gun. The only differences that I can see is the 500 is chambered for 3" shells and the 535 is chambered for 3.5" shells. I would like to eventually use it to hunt turkeys, deer and black bears. What would you recommend and why? Thanks in advance.
With the rifled barrel, I will be using slugs as well.
I think that a 30-06 kicks pretty hard, do 3.5" shells in a 12 gauge kick much harder than that?

I have just been using sabot slugs and they are a little pricey, wondering if there is any alternative… Besides getting a new barrel

I have a 20 guage shotgun with a permanent modified choke barrel, and im wanting to know if its safe to fire slugs out of it , at the range.

what is the type of ammo to use in a shotgun to blow a big hole in something like you see in the movies? Is it slugs with the 9 steel buckshot pellets?

Can you fire slugs from any 12 gauge shotgun? Specifically a Charles Daly Tactical and a Mossberg500 Tactical

I have a sears model 66 12 gauge semi auto shot gun what choke setting should I use for slugs? and where can I find a new forearm stock for it? I think that’s what it’s called.

I am looking for an affordable 12 gage pump shotgun for multiple uses; home defense and hunting deer and turkey. I want to use slugs for deer hunting but I know that slugs would not be a reasonable home defense ammunition. What should I look to purchase?
