this is specifically in reference to a barrel for the mossberg 835 listed on their website. I want a general purpose barrel that can shoot buckshot or slugs. my turkey barrel that it came with is…well… relatively worthless I have been told especially since i want to be able to shoot slugs.
what kind of ammo can I use through this type of barrel?

I purchased a mossberg 12ga pump last month. and i like to use slugs when i hunt. now can i shoot a rifled slug out of a 12ga barrel with a full choke. or will it mess up my gun and choke .

I have a Remington 870 security shotgun and this guy at work said slugs will damage a smooth bore barrel, He said I need a slug barrel., I think he is wrong though. Am I right.

Would it be able to bring down larger animals like antelope or deer?
Also, I’ve heard that some shotguns can fire both shotshells and slugs. How does that work and what sorts of features would I need to look for in a shotgun that can do that.

I just bought a mossberg maverick 88 12 gauge shotgun. It has a 5 shot mag and then 1 in the chamber. It’s the field model with a 28 in barrel and a modified choke. I read the owners manual and is says it can use 2 3/4 shells and 3in shells, can it use 3 1/2 shells ? And can it shoot slugs the way it is or do I gotta change something ? Thanks !

I was thinking about getting a 12 guage mossberg 500 field. I will be using it for deer, dove, phesant and squirrel. I see that I can buy a seperate deer barrel for deer hunting, but I was wondering if I had to. Could I just use the regular shotgun with slugs without buying anything extra and if not why?

What would the recoil be like if I put some remington reduced recoil rounds in it, I’v been using 2 3/4" slugs and am getting tired of it, feels like a darn 30-06, I got a .243 so could you compare it to it. And the round would be the remington reduced recoil 20 gauge slugs.

I’ve been shooting for quite some time now, as much of my family grew up around guns. I’m 16, but I’ve bought ammo before at gun shows and such, although that was for my nagant. My brother recently bought me a 20 gauge, but I currently only have pheasant shot for it.
In short, can I go to Wal-Mart and buy slugs, although I’m not 18?

I am considering getting a shotgun for recreational shooting and as a frugal (cheap and/or broke) person one of my primary concerns is the cost of ammo. I don’t care for any special kind, just generally the cheapest for basic buckshot and slugs. Thank you.

My brother wants a shotgun, a smooth barrel for birds and a rifled cantilever barrel for slugs. This combo for the mossberg is 9 or the remington 870 combo is 9. How easily can you buy aftermarket parts like a sureshot thumbhole grip, and to work on the trigger. Whats your thoughts, is the 870 worth the extra money?

i have a maverick by mossberg shotgun. I would like to put some sort of sights on for deer hunting but i want to take it dove hunting so i need to take it off. so basically can i put a red dot scope on my 12 gauge shotgun?

I got a new shotgun and im wondering if i can kill deer with it. When I shoot slugs (thats all i can kill deer with) should i keep the modified choke in it. The barrel is a regular barrel or should i get a rifled one? I’ve killed some birds and ducks with it so i know its good for that. But can my shotgun kill a deer under 100 yrds.
