Mossberg 500 question….?

May 12th, 2011 by eranio

which model of the Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun should i get???? i am going to be using it for home defense and hunting(squirrel, coyotes, deer, birds, etc, probably nothing bigger than a deer). also i would like a nice flashlight and/or scope, but idk which model to buy, i was thinking about the tactical, or persuader/cruiser. I don’t want a wood stock or anything, all synthetic.
if you think i should get the wood, why? and if i do could i put accessories on it?
which MODEL should i get???????
could i add a pistol grip to the model A?
does the model a have any other names?

Remington 870 or Rossi Single Shot Shotguns?

February 19th, 2011 by eranio

I’v been looking at some 20 and 410 shotguns, and have really had my eye on them, their both priced very nice, the Rossi is about 0.00 and the Remington is I think around 0.00 at my local gun shop. If I go with the Rossi, I’ll be getting the 410, and if I go with the Remington, it’l be a 20 gauge, this also will just be a squirrel/rabitt gun, so not that important.

i have a shotgun question…?

January 29th, 2011 by eranio

hi, im looking into buying a Mossberg 500 shotgun sometime soon, and i need some help…. i was thinking about getting the 12 ga. model, however, i started to think more and more about getting the 20 ga. when this past weekend i went out shooting skeet and shot about 75-100 shells through a 20. and my should was somewhat sore, and i thought if i get a 12 it would be too much recoil. now i don’t know which gauge to buy. i would mostly be shooting skeet, hunting small game/ possibly birds, and probably deer eventually. which gauge should i get, 12 or 20 and why??? please help
by the way… i am 15 years old and about 120 lbs. im not sure of my height, probably around 5′… 5-6" tall.
thank you all for your answers. i was just wondering because i don’t know how much a recoil pad would work, but i am now pretty sure i will get the 12. also when i go hunting squirrel and such i have a single shot 20 ga if carrying around a 12 gets to be too much work. thanks again.

will slugs hurt a regular shotgun barrel?

October 26th, 2010 by eranio

I was thinking about getting a 12 guage mossberg 500 field. I will be using it for deer, dove, phesant and squirrel. I see that I can buy a seperate deer barrel for deer hunting, but I was wondering if I had to. Could I just use the regular shotgun with slugs without buying anything extra and if not why?

I want to take a squirrel to a taxidermist. What should I do to prepare it?

March 14th, 2010 by eranio

Should the squirrel be gutted? Frozen? Anything else I should do immediately upon the kill? Can the taxidermist do a clean job if I use a .22 or should I use a shotgun with an 8 shot?

Best shotgun for all hunting?

March 8th, 2010 by eranio

I need a shotgun for under 0, and i want it to be able to hunt dove, squirrel, turkey, duck, and geese with it (i have a slug gun for deer.) I can not decide between anything i find. It has to be a 12 gauge 3 1/2inch because of the waterfowl.

I have done the research and decided that i want a pump action over an automatic.

I have read some automatics will not cycle 2 3/4inch shells.

Unless someone can say a shotgun that can confirm the a shotgun that is chambered in 3 1/2inch chamber can cycle a 2 3/4inch then i am only wanting a pump.

I also know that there is not (to me) that much of a noticeable difference in cycle times between a pump and an automatic.

I am also going to want one with wetland camo due to the fact that i like waterfowl hunting the most, if not then i will just get a wood and metal version.

So can someone tell me a gun that will fit my few needs.
well i just did some research again and it looks as if i will be buying a browning bps or Remington 870, can someone clarify which would be better for my needs.
i now found that some Beretta’s are nice, if anyone can tell me which on is the nicest or best between these 3(i will hopefully use these for my whole life) then that would be nice.

nevermind….forget the guns, just say what you guys think are the best for a lifetime, i will not spend more the 0 though
ok…i am deciding between a remington 870 supermag, and can anyone tell me a really good cheap automatic?

Best hunting shotgun for me.?

March 6th, 2010 by eranio

I am looking for a shotgun at around 0-0. I am going to hunt rabbit, squirrel, turkey, and deer. I may eventually go waterfowl or dove, but i have other guns for that. I will buy a slug barrel for deer. My dad asked our local gun store dealers for tips on what to do, and they said any mossberg or remington will do fine, but make sure i get a mossberg barrel(yes there is mossberg barrels for remington guns, and i have been told that those barrels are the best, if anyone has anything to debate over that then say so.) So try to limit it to remington or mossberg. Here are my questions and statements.

Is a 20 or 12 better(i can handle a 10, and i love recoil, so no real need for 20 unless you guys suggest it.)

For the turkey, squirrel, and rabbit should i use a full or modified choke?
Should i get an automatic or a pump?

Is there any specific model you suggest, and if there is give me reasons why.

The gun needs to be able to be put through abuse, and weather.

I am wanting it to be wood, with a blued barrel, but it can be synthetic, but it HAS to have a blued barrel.

I want it to be reliable, and last me at least 30 years if I take care of it.

I want a 3inch for both, but if it is an automatic it has to be a 3inch which can also shoot a 2 3/4inch just as easy as a 3inch, but if it is a pump, it can be a 3 1/2 inch.

I will buy the slug barrel in the future, so the gun itself can be anywhere between my price range.

If there are any more questions please feel free to ask, but answers will have to wait until i get out of school first. Please put your input and any suggestions, give me good explanations and reasons to help me out please because i have been looking for a good 2 months and have not really narrowed it down to a lot of things, and Christmas is coming up soon and i am going to ask for this shotgun for Christmas. Thanks.
Ok lets fix some things up, i will only use th 10 gauge i said for waterfowl and waterfowl only, not everything…i know a 12 is bigger than a 20….and mountain man shutup because i am 14 and i have shot guns since i was 5, so shutup with your stupid comments i see on every questions.
Ok it looks like it will be a remington 870(someone suggest a model) or a mossberg…which one should i choose?

Mossberg Shotguns?

November 4th, 2009 by eranio

Should i get a mossberg 500 or a mossberg 535? I will be hunting birds (doves.phesant.exc), deer, squirrel, and some other small game. I want the combo because of the rifled deer barrel. I want a 12 gauge. i have a 20 and a 16 already. Anyone ever shot both or have both? help me out!
I was leaning towards the 500 anyway. But 3.5 shells are those the ones that are like 8.00 a box? I would like to also turkey hunt.
how much is an 870 express combo. How much is a Mossberg 500 or 535 combo? I have been told that 870 are better but, the Mossbergs are LOTS lighter.
