Mossberg 500 tactical (police types) for home defense, but I’m concerned using no buttstock, only pistol grip would be hard to aim, and shoot due to recoil. I have shot m-4′s, but never used a shotgun. ANy suggestions.

Alright so im going to buy a shotgun when I turn eighteen, which is in about 2 months. I was thinking about getting the FN tactical police shotgun, or just a mossberg model.
Do they sell rubber bullets to civilians, and can these shotguns use them? If it comes down to self defense, i would rather not kill someone, but just drop them and call the cops.
Well here if an attacker comes at you with his hands, and you have a gun, killing him would not be self defense. If i did have a rubber bullet, i would indeed shoot him in the leg, or somewhere where i think he would not die.
