What's the difference between a tactical shotgun and regular shotgun?

February 20th, 2011 by eranio

A "tactical" shotgun and regular shotgun must have differences. What are the main differences? Barrel length or what? Can you get tactical shotguns with 20+ inch barrels?

Any thoughts on the Remington 870 Marine Magnum shotgun?

October 18th, 2010 by eranio

I’m thinking of buying a shotgun for recreational/defense purposes, but I’m not crazy about the typical black and synthetic look most tactical shotguns have. I do like the silver appearance of the marine mag though. If you own a Marine Magnum or have shot one, please give me your thoughts and whether you would recommend one. Can it fire 2 3/4" and 3" shells only, or can it fire 3.5" super magnum shells as well? I don’t live on a boat but I do live right by the ocean if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for all your comments.

Shotgun Damage… Beyond Use?

April 9th, 2010 by eranio

I just acquired this crazy shotgun in a firearms lot I purchased from an estate. It is a double side-by-side barrel 10ga shorty.

It is not a tactical gun, or chopped up ghetto-gage… this is a very "old school" wood tailed pistol grip, engraved, double trigger shotgun. About 19" in TOTAL length. This is also the only double trigger shotgun I’ve ever seen that will fire both triggers at the same time.

So… the thing is, there is a small "lump" in one of the barrels near the breach. Not big… just able to tell its there. Being that it is not only a 10ga, but a shorty double barrel, I know this thing would be a BEAST to fire… and I am itching to shoot it.

Is "any" form of barrel bulge "too much" to be safe?

This gun is so beautiful… I will certainly keep it as a "wall hanger"… but would it be safe to still fire?

I own 37 guns… but am by no means an expert, nor gunsmith… What do you think?
No it’s does not have Damascus barrels… and I do not plan on using this as a regular shooting gun, But it’s a TANK, and would really like to fire it before leaving it for display.
Just to add… the "lump" is external… like a pressure bulge… not inward like a dent.
I’m a big dude… I am not concerned about the power, or holding it… I am sure I am firm enough of a shot to handle it… just don;t want it to blow out a barrel directly next to my wrist, as thats where the bulge is while holding in a shooting stance.
Wow… the legal eagle is floating about. I misused the word TOTAL. The legal limit is 18-3/4" barrel length… the barrel is 19" long, not the entire gun. I have purchased tactical shotguns that are of equal length… the gun IS legal.

Mafia Wars – Other people my level have weapons I can't buy?

March 8th, 2010 by eranio

I’ve lost to people my level with weapons I don’t have the option to buy on my inventory screen. I started yesterday, I’m level 10. These items include tactical shotguns, 9mm Semis, and AKs. How do I get these?
They rarely have more people than me – and if they do it’s not by much. I have 12 people.

I’ll do some "special jobs" and see what happens for me.

Can I buy a Mossberg 500 Pistol grip without a stock and install one later?

January 1st, 2010 by eranio

I am not new to guns, but new to tactical shotguns. I want to buy a mossberg pump and build it the way I want, but would like to save money by buying a pistol grip with no stock and installing an aftermarket stock later. I want to know if I have to replace the pistol grip when buying a stock for the gun, or will the new stock install onto the existing pistol grip?

Tactical shotgun NYS?

December 10th, 2009 by eranio

Hey hows it going, I know i can legally own shotguns and rifles in my county does any one know if that also covers tactical shotguns such as the mossberg 500 cruiser?
can i have a serious answer
Im located in Westchester. I googled nys guns laws and i got a whole sheet of info explaining where you can have what kind of gun and it said its legal to own a shotgun or rifle without licence or permit. but thats the most detail it goes into on that specif matter didnt say anyhting about length and things like that. I was just curious because ther model im looking at has .45 grip no stock which looks like it cut the length considerably. I suppose i can find the closet store near me and just go ask people who HAVE to know lol
