I have a special ordered Remington 870 Shotgun (from Dicks Sporting Goods) that is supposed to arrive in 4-6 weeks.
Think it will come in sooner?
Has anyone else special ordered from a big retailer before (like Walmart, Sports Authority, etc.)
How long did it take you for the gun to come in?
Guys!!!
I did not order an 870 express!
I ordered a Wingmaster….
There are like 20 different versions of the 870… Why would everyone automatically assume the express?

I have an 870 Express that occasionally (1%-2%) fails to extract a fired shell.
The slide doesn’t get stuck, instead the extractor never seems to grab the rim of the case. I’ll rack the slide back and see the shell stuck in the chamber still. I generally dig it out with a car key, but of course for self defense this isn’t ideal ("Hey buddy, can you wait a minute?").
Racking the slide back forward (when the shotgun is unloaded of course, or it would jam) will not cause the extractor to grab the shell, even if I jam it forward with great force.
What causes this failure, and how is it prevented?
Cleaning is a good recommendation, but I just finished cleaning that shotgun meticulously.
I broke down the whole thing and paid special attention to the bolt and the extractor with a toothbrush and CLP.
Didn’t seem to make much difference.
I have been shooting the Federal bulk ammo from WalMart.

Hi Everyone,
I need a Shotgun/Boom Mic locally pretty fast, so I don’t want to order online. Any idea what kind of stores will sell it? So far I’ve looked at Best Buy, Walmart, Sears, Target, Radioshack, etc… also I’m looking for something and under. I don’t want a high quality one, I’d just like a decent or so shotgun mic. Thanks!

H&R PROTECTOR HOME DEFENSE SHOTGUN
18.5" Barrel
5 round capacity
Chambers 2 3/4" and 3" loads
Black synthetic stock with recoil pad and swivel studs
http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/outdoors/hunting/shotguns&start=0&selectedSKU=0350-02021-5180
This looks like a decent shotgun for home defense. I’ve looked in Pawn Shops, and I can’t find anything that would be decent for home defense. Mostly long and bulky guns, and their too much money. Does this look like a decent gun? I’m just trying to get people’s opinions.
I’ve also checked all the WalMart’s around my area and none of them sell guns.
I don’t want to buy a gun that’s going to fall apart on me, I just want something that I can throw in my closet if I need to use it in case of a home invasion, and something I can take to my Grandpas lakehouse in the woods every 2 years or so.
Thanks guys! Btw, is that gun a 12 gauge? How do I tell? By the chambers size?
Is H&R a good brand?
What type of shells should I buy for it that would be good for home defense?
If I could afford anymore I’d go with a remington or a mossberg, just don’t have the cash. I’m 21 and in college.
What specifically do I look for when buying shells? How do I know something is the size I’m looking for.
http://academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/outdoors/hunting/shotgun_ammunition
Those are the only ones that are offered at academy, would any of those be good or would it be better to get them from another shop?
Also, out of those 3 different types of shells from academy which would be the best for my needs.

I have a mossberg 500 shotgun. I am a big deer hunter with a little budget. I was wondering if a rifled barrel can shoot rifled slugs? I know most barrels out there cost like 160 bucks and up. I found this barrel at walmart and it comes with a scope http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mossberg-Barrel-Scope-Combo-For-20-guage-500-Shotguns/4956490 Would it be a good barrel to use with any kind of rifled slugs? It looks like I can get a different scope if that one dosen’t fit me.
Thanks

Are there any that can give shooting lessions?
Walmart no longer sells guns in half of thier markets. The Rochester market being one of them. Try again.

i cannot get the damn thing clean. i am about ready to just buy another barrel. i have run the copper bristle thing through (dont correct me on what its called i really dont give a ****) it and scrubbed the sh*t out of it, and ran about 28 thick patches through it, wet AND dry! and it still has debris and dusty looking material inside the barrel. the lube i use is remoil, and that was just like a soap and water type of thing i was using it for. now i honestly dont know what to do. is there some type of desolvant i can spray in the barrel and leave it there overnight to get the rest of the **** to come up? i am pretty damn frustrated, and ******* HATE cleaning guns after shooting them.
thank you all of you that posted reccomendations for equipment and solevents. i will go to cabelas tomarrow with my credit card!
oh and Patrick i just shot federal’s #8 shot target loads! the 100 for 20 bucks at walmart pack. federal is ALWAYS dirty i know, but ive been shooting them for years and always have been able to clean it to a shine. now i cant get it! and i shot LESS then what usually shot!

I get really nervous when it comes to walking up to a counter and asking to buy a gun. Not really sure why.
What do I have to do to buy a gun at Walmart? The other gun dealers are too far away from my home.
Do I have to bring documentation?

I was looking in this ad for a shotgun and i found this gun. It is as listed above. a turkey model, army camo color, and a 24" barrel. I want to know what a brand new one would cost to see if i’m getting a good price for this one.
I’m sorry you guys keep saying wal-mart. Our walmart dosn’t sell guns anymore.
So that’s not an option for me. I"m just wondering what an average one would cost.

My dad has been wanting to take me hunting, and so far I haven’t been interested, although lately I’m thinking of giving it a try. If I wanted to buy a rifle or shotgun in Indiana, what’s the leg work requirement?
I hear you can walk in Walmart and buy one and just fill out a questionaire.. is that true? or do I need to get any kind of license before hand?

Few questions I would like to ask, 10 points to the best answer. And before I list my questions, the intentions of buying a gun is not for wreckless USAGE, yes I am mentally stable, and yes I am a college student. So with that said
1. Whats the highest caliber gun I can buy at my age? Semi, auto, shotgun? auto shotgun perhaps?
2. Where is the best place I can buy this, in the Los Angeles area?
3. Can I store this gun, lets say in the trunk of my car? (Acura TSX?)
4. Do I need a register a permit or license to own my gun, and if so, how long does it take?
5. Is Big5/Walmart (hardly any walmarts in the LA area, but a lot of Big 5) good places to buy shotguns and rifles?
Thank you.

The Mossberg is 145 dollars cheaper and it shoots 3.5" while Remington is 3"
Mossberg=6 capacity
Remington=5 capacity
Mossberg is camo
Remington is not
Mossberg shotgun barrel is 1" longer than Remingtons
Mossberg slug barrel is 7" longer than the remingtons 21"!!!
I like Remington but I dont understand why its more expensive and the gun is’nt as powerful and barrels are shorter and its not even camo. Also less capacity… What do you guys think…I just hope wal mart can order this for me…

Usually I would go to Walmart but they now have this dumb rule, 6 boxes per costumer. So I need to know of a good place to buy ammo. I have looked at Dicks Sporting Goods but they dont stock ammo anymore. I have a 12 gauge shotgun and am looking to buy hi brass loads and 7 1/2 game loads. Thanks in Advance!
