I suppose buckshot can be used on fox — But your going to have to be close —- If your to far away most of the pellets will miss the animal…..
Consider this stuff……..

use a rifled slug in a smooth bore barrel with a improved cylinder choke, no other choke! this is good to 75 yards, farthest you’ll ever shoot with a smoothbore, for fox and coyotes, use #4 or #2 buckshot, it’ll ruin the buggers!

Slugs will do for deer. Plain old slugs will work with just about any shotgun and do ok up to 50 yards or more.
The "experts" will be selling slug barrels and high end ammo … and your results may be better if the special stuff… but too may deer have become ‘meat’ with a common shotgun and plain old slugs over the years to discount the value of simple things
Fox and coyotes ..slugs will work… but typically you wont get a shot at one in range for a slug. Both creatures are pretty savvey about avoiding man and anything else that may kill them.
Shot would work on predators but again..you would have to stumble up on a close shot… and the pellets would ruin the pelts

you should check your hunting regs. some states are specific on what
you can and can’t use. if all of your shooting is going to be close a slug
or OO buck shot might be ok. if your using slugs they have a drop of
10.68 inches per 100 yds. your probably not going to get close
enough to a coyote or fox to use a shotgun and be able to kill it
with one shot
