What do the stars mean on a Beretta shotgun barrel?

August 10th, 2010 by eranio

I have a Beretta Silver Snipe shotgun from the 1960′s. One barrel has 4 stars, and the other barrel has 3 stars. I guess this has something to do with the shot pattern or choke?

At the time the Silver Snipe was made there were generally 3 choke constrictions available. IC (***), M (**) & F (*). Generally a gun of that era marked **, * is M/F.
