Air soft shotguns serve little purpose unless you end up paying alot of money to get an even spread. But if you really want a shotgun it is up to personal preference.
Gas will give you recoil and sound a bit more real, but spring will last longer and you will save on buying green gas or propane.
As far as function, they both work the same since you are looking at FPS and spread not distance for a shotgun.

Semi automatic, more powerful. You have greater power, accuracy, and effective range. Unless you have a good many shells, or several magazines, they can be difficult to use, though.
