What is the best ammo for fully rifled shotgun?

I have just been using sabot slugs and they are a little pricey, wondering if there is any alternative… Besides getting a new barrel

It is perfectly ok to fire rifles (foster type) slugs thru a rifled barrel…. There have been a lot of misconceptions, misinformation and other misunderstandings about this but it surely is quite ok…. The worst that can happen is a little lead fouling — but that’s it…..
Walmart sells 15 packs of Remington Sluggers for $8.95…. That’s about as cheap as it gets….. No sense cough up $10 a box for 5 sabots for a little target practice…..
The best are sabots….. 2nd best is rifled slugs…..

That’s what you should stick with. As for being pricey, it’s worth it to get the accuracy they provide, and the flatter trajectory, AND the controlled expansion delivered by the modern jacketed bullet.

12-bore rifles (there’s no such thing as a rifled shotgun: once you put the rifled barrel on it, it’s become a 12- bore rifle) and sabot slugs go together, and will work much better than plain ball. Brenneke and Foster slugs are made for smooth bores.
For a less expensive alternative, you might want to look into casting solid ball. For inspiration you can look at the Holland and Holland Paradox and the Westley Richards Explora type partially-rifled ball-and-shot guns.

Sabots are the right load for that barrel. I’m confused about your concern about the price of sabots, though. Are you using them to hunt with or target shooting? Once you’re sighted in for deer season, I would think you’d be finished shooting and would be ready to hunt.
If you want to save a little money on slugs and stock up, wait until season is over and catch the sale.

Bonded tips or plastic tip sabots by Remington.

Sabot slugs, rifled slugs, solids… I could go on and on with different slug types.
SLUGS ONLY!!! Unless you use lead shot… but then again expect it to pattern really oddly…
Take a guess: Ithaca Deerslayer??? Pretty please?
