What is the value of my Winchester 1897 shotgun?

August 12th, 2010 by eranio

I have a gun and would like to know what it is worth. There are blue books available that have quotes, but I am not interested in paying for one quote. If anyone could help out it would be much appreciated. If you would, please let me know what source you got the quote from.

Winchester 1897 12 gauge single barrel pump shotgun
Serial no. 227567
The gun is in good working condition, but there is a small crack in the stock, not very noticeable

Thank you!

The serial number dates to 1904.

The value will vary greatly depending on the percentage of the original finish remaining

Just as the value of a classic car can range from scrap metal to showroom, the value of the gun has a wide range.

Your gun’s value is anywhere from $125 to $10,000

Standard model value ranges from $125 in 10% condition to $900 in 100%
Trap model with breech block marked "trap" $350 to $2250
    Pigeon Grade, $800 to $10,000.

You can find a Blue Book of Gun Values in a large gun store or major book store where you can pick it up and look at it.. In the front there is a photo grading section that will help you to evaluate the condition of the gun.

You can compare yours to others here.
