We carry four kinds, 00 Buckshot in the magazine, and slugs in a side saddle compartment. The buckshot has about one inch of spread for every yard of distance, so it is only used for close encounters. After about 20 yards, we switch to slugs.

We also carry 7 1/2 shot in the glove box to dispatch wounded and/or nuisance animals, such as rabid skunks.

Finally, bean bag rounds in a separate gun in the trunk for less lethal applications. This gun has an orange stock so it is not confused with our other shotguns.

We have two officers specialized in chemical munitions, they carry rounds that disperse OC spray, CS gas, wooden baton rounds, and zinc breaching rounds designed to take a doorknob out when encountering a locked door.

    That would be shotgun ammunition.

they have optional explosive rounds which detonate on impact.

It essentially works like conventional rounds except the ball-bearings explode because of a charge on the inside of the balls.

But of course, they wouldn’t use that unless there was like some sort of military coup in effect or something, idk.

buckshot, rubber buckshot, "sand", i am sure that there are a bunch of speciality loads; i can imagine tear gas, and flares

    They like using 00 buckshot.

    Shotgun ammo
    00 Buck
    or slugs
    They also have beanbag rounds

Some specialty teams have door breaching rounds, or flashbang rounds.

We use Federal 00 buck and magnum slugs. If firing that stuff expect a bruised shoulder.
