I’d like to take up skeet shooting, but not sure what gun to buy. I have experiance with guns, just never shot skeet before.
I’m looking in the price range of 0-00
Please include details as to why it’s good.
Also, do you necessarily need to have an over-under, or will any old shotgun suffice?

The very best thing for you to do, as a beginner, is look for a used Remington 1100 or 1187 semi-auto shotgun in 12 gauge. Look for one that has the Rem-choke system of screw in chokes, and by a skeet choke for it.
This is an excellent shotgun to learn on, and will last you for years and years of shooting. It is also an excellent value, as it is not too pricey to start out with, therefore, you can buy more shells, or reloading equipment to feed your Remington. If you decide you are going to shoot skeet for the rest of your life, you can try out some O/U shotguns, and perhaps sell/trade your Remington for an upgrade down the line.
I shot my first 25 straight with a pawnshop 1100. I did buy a Beretta 682 Gold E Skeet O/U later on, but I still have and shoot the 1100.

Any shotgun that holds two rounds will do. Over-unders are the best choice because you can control where your spent shells go. Some of them you can set so when you open the action they don’t shoot out. You just pull them out with your hand. Semi autos are also popular but they tend to shoot spent shells at the person who is standing near you. For the money you want to spend, I would go with an over-under. They work well with trap and sporting clays also. As far as brand I would go with either Beretta or Browning. Don’t just buy one though. Go to a store and pick them up and see how they feel. Then go with the one that feels best. I was going to buy a Beretta, but after holding the guns, I ended up with a Browning. It just felt better to me.

The Browning Citori line was and still is very popular. It is an over and under. Very good gun IMHO.

Some good wisdom so far.
Best is’nt always a matter of price .
As mentioned the one that fits you best is best
Will stay out of the best maker arguement.
Over /unders are popular as are autoloaders.
Both allow you to shoot doubles.
Consider that trap & skeet shooting simulate bird hunting but have beecome competitive sports & specialization of the guns came with it.
Have seen people shoot very high scores using plain field grade guns & shoot skeet just to polish their hunting skills.
A fine skeet gun does have advantages in serious competition , but a good shot is a good shot & will beat a poor shot with the finest gun every time..
You can definitely find a good skeet gun ( new or used ) in your price range.
Visit a range ,watch, ask questions & see what’s out there at the gunshops.
