Whats a better color for a shotguns?

February 12th, 2010 by eranio

I’m torn apart on what color I should buy. I have decided that I want a supernova to use on clays and hunting. But is there really a huge difference in what color i choose? I wanted a black gun, but then there are camo options too. What would you suggest as a better color?

    I’m not a camo fanatic.
My neighbor has just "wrapped" his new Yukon in Mossy Oak and he got mad when I told what I thought (Hey, he asked!).
Unless you are a turkey caller that practices the ultimate in stealth, forget the camo firearms and go with the traditional colors. You can always wrap it in that camo wrap if you need to get ultra-stealthy.

I’d be embarrassed to go to the local club with a camo shotgun. Black is just fine in my book, and parkerized is better than blued, if you can find it.

Really, it is mostly a matter of personal preference. I’d say that if you plan to use it for turkey hunting, deer hunting, or water foul hunting, the camo might be more appropriate since you will be wearing camo clothing and doing all that you can to remain invisable to the game animals. If you are using it just for clay target shooting or hunting where camo isn’t all that important, then I wouldn’t pay the extra price for the camo.

Claro walnut stock/fore-end – powder black and/or titanium nitride metal.
