Whats a good semi auto 12g shotgun with collapsible stock for home defense/tactical use?

I would like a 12 gauge shotgun that is semi auto with a collapsible stock and pistol grip. I however am having issues locating such a thing. Most semi autos that I’ve seen have fixed stocks that I can’t tell if they could be changed out. Then I’ve seen a number of pump shot guns with collapsible stocks. Maybe I’m just not looking in the right places but are there many models out there with these features. Thanks!

if that is what you want you might be able to go with Remington, Benelli or maybe Beretta
I have a Mossberg 930 that I’m really growing fond of but you can’t put a collapsing or folding stock on it due to location of operating tube in stock. Personally I don’t see the need for the folding stock but I do like the collapsible just to be able to adjust length of pull – not really all that necessary unless you are wearing armor or bulky clothing. I am looking at getting a Choate pistol grip full stock for my 930 but they are ugly.
Pump vs Auto – I’ve seen a lot of pumps tied up when operator short stroked so I’m not sure auto is any less reliable if you get a good one and feed it what it likes.

check http://www.gunbroker.com or http://www.cabelas.com. they both have them. Gunbroker is an on-line auction. Remington and Mossberg both have a tactical series. The one you see a lot of is the Benelli because of hollywood.

There are several of aftermarket stocks available for most home defense pump shotguns like the Mossberg 500/590 and Remington 870, you can buy them afterwards. There are a few versions for sale out of the box, I think the Mossberg like has more self sefense configurations. If you already have a shotty, look up Knoxx Stocks, I seem to hear a lot about them, I’ve never shot one.

semi autos are no good for self defence, guess why cops use pumps, and the mossberg 500 mariner would be right up your alley, short, extremely cheap for what your getting, powerful, and accurate, for a shotgun, this must be the most popular shotgun in the us and canada.

Remington 1187 Police, 12 GA, collapsable stock

This question is right up my alley!!! I suggest going with the Mossberg 500 with the 18 inch barrel and pistol grip buttstock. There are many accessories to choose from as well. Flash lights, red beam are just a couple. Choose one, choose wisely!! Good luck

Here’s my 2 cents…..
Avoid the semi auto….. A pump action shotgun will always be more reliable…. Sure benelli has a semi-auto security shotgun that has a good reputation but my opinion is that its over rated, over engineered junk!
Collapsible stock are nothing but a pain…. Over the years I have tried them all… Side folders, top folders, under folders and guess what…. They didn’t feel right in the hand and gave the shotgun an odd feel to handling it…. Stick with a regular stock… They are easier to aim, are more accurate and you can still hold down on your side if required……
A Mossberg 500 or 590 12 gauge pump are the most reliable home security shotguns you can buy — AND they aren’t expensive!!! They start around $300
Here’s whats at my house and the only shotgun I trust my home security with!!!!

If you’re going to get one, do it before the new assault weapons ban takes place. Semi auto shotguns with collapsable stocks are on the list and considered an "assault weapon". Read under section (H) in the full text of the bill below. Write your congressman and tell him/her to vote against this bill. Good Luck!
