Everybodys going to tell you how great sabot slugs are…. At $8 to $15 a box just forget it…. I suppose if you want to take real long shots to 150 yards they would be the way to go. Keep in mind most deer are taken under 100 yards…..

Just use foster type slugs…. I use those in my Mossberg 500 slug gun and have no problem taking deer ……

2 3/4 inch slugs are just fine and have plenty of penetration…..

Read the below articles at Chuck Hawks concerning slug types….

    Shotgun slug types….

For practice I suggest you consistently use the same brand of ammo and type…. Buy a case of bulk ammo and practice with that…..

Any of the sabots will do.

With slug guns they are all different. As said try sabot rounds and others. One will perform bettor than the others.

Try the newer Remington AccuTip slug.

They are getting good reviews for accuracy.

According to the Winchester Product Ballistics Service Manuel for 2008 its the Winchester XP3tm tin core in a 300 grain slug, 2,100 Feet per second velocity for a rifled choke tube.* The other one is the Rackmaster-tm slug at 1,625 Feet per second velocity for a smooth bore or rifled choke tube.*
