What’s the best Tactical Shotgun?
I’m looking for a good Tactical Shotgun, and I have my mind set on a few different Models and was wondering what you think of these and regardless what is YOUR choice for best Tactical Shotgun of all, not just of mine?
Here are what I narrowed my chioces to, but I will look into all suggestions,
1)Remington Model 1100 TAC-4
2)HK / Fabarm 12Ga Tactical (pistol gripped)
3)Beretta 1201 FP (pistol gripped)
4)Wilson Combat Border Patrol AT (pistol gripped & straight)
Thanks
willis3rd,
Trainings one thing but in combat I’ve seen all kinds of shotguns used. I know soldiers who swear by Berettas and others by HK’s. I’m not saying Benelli’s & Mossbergs are bad, I just want some opinions.

Id go with the HK myself. Personally I prefer HKs over any thing Top of the line firearm manufacturer and a quality product

I would go with a Beretta/Benelli. They are made by the same company but operate differently.
I own the benelli and shoot the heck out of it. It never jams, runs fine dirty and you can shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger.
The Berettas big apeal is the gas operation. The gun requires a bit more maint but also shoots very well. I know me and Maint on a 12 GA is not something I want to do after a long day of 3-gun so I keep it simple. I hit the gun with a little lube, wipe off the excess and Go. A Beretta really needs more regular maint.
HK-NO EXPERIENC, sorry I can’t help you here.
REMINGTON:- again I can’t help you here. The standard 1100 was so jam prone I never gave Remington another shot though I do here they have improved.
My duck gun it a Beretta Extrema and I believe this is the best gass operated Auto on the Mkt for being able to be abused and still work. The thing is, as good as it is, I have had it jam. The Benelli has not failed me with minimal maint in over 3 years of shooting. If I need the gun to shoot (and need an Auto loader), The Benelli is where I put my money.
If I really needed to reduce the recoil for some reason, I would go with the Baretta Gas system.
Good luck in your shopping

The Remington 1100 is a winner, but I like the Rem. 870.

I am a remington man but I would not trust my life to any 1100. In many hunting and shooting cicles it is called teh Remington 550 because it only works half the time. Benille is the way to go The inertia drive system is simple tough as a tank and works all the time every time.

If you want a pump go with a remington 870 tactical or the 1187 if you want an automatic.Remington has some pretty good tactical variants available to military personnel only. You should try contacting Remington directly.

The most important decision you can make about your firearm is where its made. Buy a gun MADE IN USA! Its the patriotic thing to do. Keep your fellow Americans employed……….. Remington makes fine shotguns……… I personally own a Mossberg persuader shotgun and haven’t had the slightest problems with it. It has no collapsible stock, no pistol grips, no laser sights, no flashlights, no side shell carriers, no nuthin…. Reason being if I ever have to use it in a defensive situation I dont want it getting snagged/caught on doorways, furniture, clothing, curtains etc, etc… Sure those tacticals may look cool dressed up like a christmas tree but unless your on the swat team I dont think they are practical…. As a side thought you could actually purchase 2 7 shot Remington 870 18 inch barrel guns and or a couple of Mossberg Cruisers for the price of 1 of those hi priced tacticals…….. The Remington 1100 TAC-4 is the best choice on your list…

What to look for in a shotgun is reliability and durability (accuracy is not that big an issue unless you use slugs, and even then you aren’t exactly sniping with it). Me personally, I think a mossberg is fine, since it is inexpensive, has many barrels available (so you can use it for hunting anything, home defense, and tactical use as well), and has many aftermarket accessories, like pistol grip stock and forearms, heat shields, ammo carriers, ect.

I don’t even see the Mossberg listed, but the 590 is the "tactical" civilian model of the shotgun carried by the military. Even has a bayonet lug.

Not having been lucky enough to handle the H-K’s, I can’t comment on what I would probably consider the best choice, as my CWP ‘constant companion’ is a H-K USP Tactical .45ACP.
If you can choose your own, my pick would be a High Standard model 10, a semi-auto ‘bull-pup’ 12ga. that, due to its’ compact size, is an excellent ‘close quarters’ combat shotgun, as well as a home-defense weapon.
The price is ridiculous, but not surprising. Check it out:

My personal choice, for a work/home defense gun is the Rem 870 express.
Mine has the Surefire lighted fore end, 3 round tube extension, 18 inch barrel, Choate tactical stock.
But, if you have ruled out the 870 for some reason… out of your choices I would have to go with the HK.
