Which is a better shotgun the Benelli Supernova or the Remington model 887 Nitro Magnum?

Which is better? Benelli or Remington?
Also the Model 887 has that new polemer that protects it. So I will be hunting upland game but which would be the best im so torn between them and the remington is 0.00 cheaper?
Also what do each of them come with? Like do either have a hard case? Thanks

I’d go with the Remington, and use the extra $100 for practice ammo. But flip a coin.

I have the 887 and I love it, but the store guy said the supernova is better. I ‘ve never handled nor shot the supernova, And I really like my 887 and never had any problem with it.
They have not done a rifled barrel yet for the 887.

I would go with the Benelli – Remington is nice, but it doesn’t compare in quality. Benelli is coated with the plastic/polymer to prevent rust from water damage. It is reliable and a great buy for the money. Your resale is more on the Benelli – and the aftermarket options are comparable.

Benelli has better recoil absorption – and my personal opinion, better style and handling.

If you can find people that already have one of each – try them. There’s no better way to determine which one fits you better.

The Benelli is the better of the two. It has a better action and stock and has been around long enough to be a proven performer.

You mention you are looking for an upland gun. For that purpose there are better handling pump guns like an 870 Wingmaster by Remington or a Browning PBS. But if you want a polymer/plastic receiver, go with the Nova.

The benelli has a better recoil design on it and it has a nice top rail. Also the benelli has a full modifiable rear stock kit that comes with the gun new.

The benelli si a great all around gun. I use it for shooting trap or hunting. And it feels great in the hands and it has very lil kick. Also it doesnt feel fake or cheap.

This gun is a great buy. Most gun stores sell it for around $450 to $520 new.

I cannot speak for the 887, i have never shot nor handled one.

I do really like the supernova though, I purchased one recently and it is a great shotgun, truely all weather and the recoil reduction system works well. 3.5 inch loads are still stout, but it is with any shotgun. I would buy the supernova again and recommend it.

My vote goes to the Supernova. It is higher quality overall and doesn’t look or feel like a toy like the 887.

They are comparable, though. It is mostly user preference. Handle both in a store and see which one fits you better.

I am a big fan of the Stoeger line of shotguns that Benelli also imports and sells in the USA. But, Benelli is notorious for poor customer service. They also tend to change their designed repeatedly and fail to have parts on hand for their older shotguns. The original Benelli sold in the USA was the M121 riot shotgun they sold in the early 1980s. A great gun. But Benelli will not provide parts or service for this 30 year old model that they sold. If you have one that breaks, you are out of luck. Ths is what happens when you buy ANYTHING that is made in Europe. There are a lot of Moto Guzzi motorcycles that would be running fine today if they had one or two replacement parts to fix them, but it just isn’t happening because they just don’t see a point in helping people to fix their motorbikes…they would rather have them buy a new one.

The last word here is this. The Remington Arms Co. is an American company that makes their guns in Illion, New York. If you need parts for your 40 year old Remington 1100 or 50 year old Remington 870, you can get them. But, if you need parts for your 30 year old Benelli M121, you are SOL. Buy American!
