Winchester shotgun?
i have a winchester model 140 20 gauge semi auto shotgun, it’s suppose to be a 3 shot auto loader, but i can only put 1 shell into the barrel/chamber……and 1 into the magazine, when i try putting the 3rd one in the magazine it will go most of the way in, but not all the way…..what’s the reason for this…..and also when i try ejecting the shells, the one in the barrel comes out fine, but the other one gets jammed like half way between the ejection port and the magazine, it goes all cock-eyed and wont come out…thats the best way to put it…hope someone can help.

I just want to make sure you are not putting 3 inch shells into a 2 3/4 inch. This can be dangerous. Other than it’s a magazine plug or possibly a dented tube.

There are some duck hunting regulations that state you cannot use a gun that can hold more than 3 shells.
What most gun makers do is open up the magazine and put in a 6 inch long plastic rod. Some guys take them out then loose it, and want to go duck hunting, so they just grab something of similar length (I knew a guy who put a mini mag light in his remington 870 express)
Take apart the mag tube and see what you find. I suspect it is supposed to be 3 in the mag and 1 in the chamber for 4 total, and someone put too long of a restrictor in the magazine, they were going for 2+1, but you got stick with 1+1
Also note, these have to be sized for 2 3/4th inch shells, something that can hold 2+1 shorter shells may not be able to hold the same amount of 3 inch shells, again, especially if it is a home made replacement

Magazine tube may be blocked with a dowel or something. Undo the mag . tube and if this is the case, just remove the obstruction, and you can load your full complement of shells.

Sounds like someone modified the plug and you can not get 2 in the mag anymore.
I would tell you to take it to a qualified gunsmith and have it checked out before you go off shooting this shotgun.

My guess is like David A is saying. It should say on the barrel near the receiver what the chamber size is. Then check your shotgun shells to make sure it’s no longer than the size on the barrel. It sounds to me that you’re trying to put 3 inch shells into a 2 3/4 inch chamber. The plug in the magazine shouldn’t keep the next shell from feeding into the chamber.
Make sure you also check your local laws before you remove or adapt the plug. As said earlier, some states have restrictions on the amount of shells you can put into the magazine.
Good luck !

The 140/1400 only holds two in the magazine. It can’t be "unplugged" to hold any more. There is no plug to remove. It’s designed for bird hunting and only holds two in the magazine. The problem with your second shell….are you perhaps trying to load two 3" shells? The 140 is a 2 3/4" chamber gun and isn’t designed to function with 3" shells.
